Helpful Tips To Care For Your Oral Health Over The Holidays
December has arrived! It is hard to believe that the year is almost over and the holiday season is upon us. You are probably in the thick of planning your festivities, purchasing and shopping for holiday gifts, attending holiday parties, and spending time with family and friends. Last year, a lot of people’s holiday traditions and visits were cancelled, and many of our patients are eagerly awaiting the return of the magic of the holiday season. With all the hustle and bustle, we know that it can be easy to stray from daily routines; however, there is one routine that we hope you maintain, even during this busy season — your hygiene routine.
Follow Your Routine
With a busy schedule, it can be tempting to cut back on your oral hygiene routine. After a long day, you might want to brush your teeth quickly without flossing. The more you cut back on your routine, the more your chances of experiencing decay or even an emergency. Brushing twice daily for two minutes and using dental floss every day, helps to eliminate lingering bacteria that can lead to decay and gum disease. We would hate for you to experience issues during such a joyous time.
Travel Tips
The holiday season is a busy time for travel, whether you are visiting family or taking a much needed trip to a destination. When traveling, it is important to bring any items you may need for your oral health. This is especially important if you are visiting a destination you are not familiar with. It can be difficult to find a store that may have what you need or find transportation if you are without a vehicle. Be sure to pack any hardware you may need, such as Invisalign® trays, if you will need to switch your aligners out, or your mouthguard or bite guard.
If you experience a dental emergency over the holidays, be sure to contact our office located in Spring Hill, FL as soon as possible. We can determine if you need to be seen immediately. If it has been longer than six months since your last hygiene examination, we suggest scheduling your next appointment in the near future. We hope to see you soon and wish you a happy and healthy holiday season!
